o tema do festival de filosofia de abrantes é "inteligência artificial, trabalho e o humano". por esse motivo, as oficinas de filosofia que iremos proporcionar às crianças das escolas do concelho giram à volta deste tema. tendo em conta que a Sophia the Robot é uma figura conhecida de muitos, uma vez que aparece na publicidade da televisão (e não só), a provocação de hoje foi responder à pergunta:

"o que é isto?" - acompanhada da imagem da Sophia.

a ideia que motivou o diálogo foi "é um robot e ao mesmo tempo uma menina". como é possível algo ser um robot e uma menina (humana) ao mesmo tempo? 

partimos em busca daquilo que a Sophia tem de humano e daquilo que a Sophia tem de robot.

houve muitas ideias sobre o assunto; para alguns a Sophia tem uma pele de humana, mas só na parte de cima.  tem fios e é feita de metal - e daí que o J. tenha defendido que ela não pode ser meio humana, pois a pele sua (transpira) e depois isso ia estragar os circuitos e avariar a Sophia. a Sophia não pode morrer, como os humanos, só pode ficar estragada. ela não tem órgãos como nós, mas pode ser arranjada, se avariar. 

depois de algum tempo a investigar se a Sophia era parecida com os humanos, chegou o momento de inverter o diálogo: e nós, humanos, somos parecidos com a Sophia?

The Sophia Network Meeting will take place in Galway at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) on the 1^st and 2^nd of June, and as a bonus, the NUIG invites delegates to a P4C Symposium on the 31^st of May. Thinking the Unthinkable

The theme for the Sophia Network meeting 2019 is Thinking the Unthinkable. This can be interpreted as philosophical creativity – thinking of ideas that have never been thought of, as well as philosophical critique – thinking that goes against traditional or established ideologies. Ireland can be said to have had its share of thinking the unthinkable with the 34th amendment on same-sex marriage, and perhaps it’s reputation as the green/emerald isle will provoke new ideas on nature and the environment.
